If the SF Giants played a triple header, the very next day, Russo would be back to commentate on every belch, fart, ball scratch, time out from the batters box etc that occurred in that game.

I see his point, but that's the thing, if it was a baseball triple header, he'd be there for every pitch, so it's hard to take him seriously. NBC has struggled with their matchups, how many blankety blank times do we have to see Denver?

this is a good question and instead of blasting dog and making jokes about MLB triple dips why dont we answer the original question because i would love to hear some opinions.

i will start, i sorta agree with dog however i take a different approach and blow off the day games.

i got two lil kids and life is getting to busy on sundays these days. but instead of watching the 1pm game and 4pm game i really look forward to the night game. i like that night game ALOT because of this.

the flex schedule is great because these are good games usually. i love thurs night games too.

that is a very valid and inisightful post, it makes allot more sense too me then just 3 games of football in one day is too much..

i thankfully have no repsonsibilities on sundays so most sundays im there watching 9 hours of football unless the night game is bad..

I do agree also. Kinda. I love the NFL but find myself struggling to watch the Sun Night games unless it involves my fantasy team or other monetary transactions

There's not much other options on Sunday night though...

Dog is on to something, because NBC's rating are way off in relation to their projections. I think some people, especially those with young kids, have had enough football by then and move on to more family oriented programming.

I personally can't get enough football. I've watched every Sunday night game this year. I always tell my wife that the NFL regular season consists of only 17 days a year where you have a full slate of games. So on the other 35 Sundays I do whatever she wants. It's a little misleading when you consider Mondays and Thursdays and some Saturdays and playoffs. But it all evens out with all of the crap I do with her on Sundays after football season is over.

Another consideration is that I live in LA, so the game comes on at 5:15 p.m. and is usually over by 8:30, which actually works out great. If I still lived back east I don't think I would stay up until 11:30-12:00 to watch the end of each game.

I also think the matchups have been really good. The games haven't always turned out that way but they've had good teams playing (at the time of the game) pretty much every week. So I think there is something bigger at play here when you take the ratings into consideration. I think Dog may be right, many people are probably football'd out after watching for 7 or 8 straight hours.

i think we are all saying that dog is right to a certain extent but he is just to stupid to articulate it properly.

Yeah, I think that's pretty much dead on accurate!

Mickey- Out of curiosity..Is it weird to wake up at like 10a on a Sunday and watch NFL games live?

I can't really wrap my head around that notion.

Agree on both points, there are so many good topics on here that just get sidetracked and derailed with stupid dog and mike comments.

On to the question I too agree with it in a sense. Anyone with a family has a hard time justifying watching 11 hours of football pretty much in a row on Sunday. Especially now that football is becoming more and more of a weekly sport now with games on Thursdays. I do the same thing as you Jerome, if I know there is a matchup I want to see at night I will skip either the 1 or 4 o'clock game or even both.

Yeah it was definately a big adjustment after growing up back east. I actually hated it at first. But my viewing patterns have changed and now the entire day is wrapped around football. There is no waiting from 8:30 to 1:00 for the games to start. As soon as you wake up it's go time. Me and one of my friends pretty much rotate hosting each NFL Sunday with 4 or 5 of our other friends coming over to watch the games each. We start with Bloody Mary's around 9:30 a.m. during the pre-game and the mayhem begins.

My house basically gets turned into a sportsbook from 9:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. if you know what I mean. We have two T.V.'s set up - both with the Sunday Ticket. Laptops get passed around like mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving. Papers with scribbled notes and stats are splattered all over the place - it's great. But the best part happens to be the fact that the last game is done by 8:30 p.m. - I watch Desparate Housewives with Mrs. Not on Mickey's Birthday at 9:00, then the Wire at 10:00 (I'm from B-more) and I'm in bed by 11:30 - and the game has already been over for three hours. I absolutely love it now.

For the record at the "Not on Mickey's Birthday" Sportsbook, we use Monopoly money.

Same thing in New Mexico, except it is only 2 hours instead of 3. I am now way in favor of the starting times, because there is less buildup time from when you wake up to the kickoffs of the first game. And of course, last night, I was in bed before 10. Another big advantage for leaving the east coast!

Its stupid because there has been Sunday night football for years. Deal with it. You dont have to watch it. What else is there on TV on Sunday night? Dog is just being an *******. No one watches a game and cares about ratings. How the hell is it too much football? Then when the season is over Dog will say, "Wow the season is over already?"

The only difference is that they have made Sunday night the new Monday Night with the new flex schedule(which I really like) the marquee matchups are not on Monday night anymore, they are on Sunday Night.
