Oh Really 12-12-2006, 12:24 PM listening to mike and chris on iverson talk about how the nba is a disgrace because hes forcing the team to trade him and controlling the frnachise, saying this is why people hate the nba
umm baseball players do this all the time as well, how come when that happens miek and chris say its "players needing a change of scenery"
but if an nba player does it hes a worthless bum who is why the nba is bad?
mywaydimag 12-12-2006, 12:33 PM To be fair they do rip into Sheffield pretty good when he pulls similar antics. Ditto Manny Ramirez. -DN
priceyeah 12-12-2006, 01:19 PM They even criticized Pettitte for this.
Icelanders 12-12-2006, 01:23 PM This is one of their pet peeves and for the most part they are consistent on it.
Oh Really 12-12-2006, 01:43 PM but why do they make it an idnictment on the sport when a nba player does it yet dont kill baseball when it happens?
Unclever Name 12-12-2006, 03:39 PM Not to be an apologist for these M&MD, but they kill baseball guys that do this just as much as NBA and NFL guys too, i.e. Curt Schilling, the Sheff, etc. And they don't kill NBA guys and accuse them of steroid use either.

they may kill the specific guy but they dont go on to kill the sport as a whoel liek they do nba when it happens..
Francesa's Lunchbox 12-12-2006, 04:51 PM I'm curious.
I know Strahan got grief when he moaned about his contract. Did Mike and Chris give Eli Manning grief for holding San Diego hostage before the draft?

Yeah that is one of the reasons why Dog does not "like" Eli or at least why he is critical of him, because the whole San Diego thing "bothered" him.

Well, then, at least he's somewhat consistent. :o
To be fair, I agree with Iverson, to a point. The 76ers blow and he's now 30(?). He wants a championship, had one chance, and now may feel that his opportunity is slipping away. He's probably fed up ownership/management and wants a fresh start elsewhere.
Foxsports.com is reporting that AI turned down a trade to the Bobcats. This, imo means to me that he wants to go to a contender.
I wouldn't get on Iverson here. He's been a warrior for the franchise, playing through injury after injury, on rosters full of journeymen types, and he's had it. He still has 5-6 yrs left and the team doesn't seem promising. Iverson is many things, but he plays hard every night. I'd cut him some slack. Chris just doesn't like AI, especially his appearance.
metsfan1974 12-12-2006, 06:00 PM The Sixers have been trying to trade him for about a year.
He IS the franchise.
finally, they both decide - hey, you know what? maybe it makes sense for both of us to move on. thanks for your efforts, both ways, and let's see if we can make it trade.
my point is, it seems to be fairly amicable between the franchise and AI - I saw the interview with the owner - he basically said - "time to move on."
This is what I hate about these 2 - why does someone have to be the bad guy in every situation?
Ricflair 12-13-2006, 07:39 AM It is more difficult to make trades in the NBA, particularly for a superstar liek IVerson. Philly can't get an equal player. ALso, I do have a problem with Iverson not wanting to go to practice.
The Poster 12-17-2006, 01:37 PM In 10 years, the Sixers have failed to get Iverson a superstar to play alongside with and or a good supporting cast. The franchise is a joke.
