The white fan is not interested in the NBA.mywaydimag 12-12-2006, 01:40 PM -Russo Oh Really 12-12-2006, 01:44 PM "theyre not americana like qb's" this guys just an idiot,i feel sorry for him becaue he wants to hide his racism but hes too stupid too Not on Mickey's Birthday 12-12-2006, 02:18 PM "theyre not americana like qb's" Did he really say this? Oh Really 12-12-2006, 02:32 PM "theyre not americana like qb's" Did he really say this? yup racks 12-12-2006, 02:40 PM It's a wonder he has a job. SportsFan 12-12-2006, 03:06 PM I do not understand why so many give him a free pass. He is an elitist, irresponsible, unenlightened fool. I want an apology. Mike0421 12-12-2006, 03:41 PM I do not understand why so many give him a free pass. He is an elitist, irresponsible, unenlightened fool. I want an apology. You give them both a free pass by your continued patronage, which is to say, continuing to listen to, and by association, support their increasingly mediocre product. That comment made by Russo is reprehensible, and if I was still listening, I would have turned the dial after that remark. The NBA is my second favorite sport after football, and their inability to logically "break down" the NBA, and talk x's and o's has been increasingly absent since the Jordan retirement from the Bulls, and especially since the Knicks became non-competitive. The NJ Nets have had a run of 5 years without comparable scrutiny. This is akin to ignoring one of the NY baseball teams being superior while the other is non-competitive. But that does not happen on WFAN, especially not on M + MD. People who live in NJ who are basketball and hockey fans should have long abandoned this show by now, since it is painfully clear their's is an NY radio station, not an NY metro area station. But I digress. Getting back to Russo's original remark about then NBA should earn their program lower ratings/fewer listeners. It's up to you to either dismiss them, or in effect, sanction the remark by continuing to listen. Not on Mickey's Birthday 12-12-2006, 03:43 PM "theyre not americana like qb's" Did he really say this? yup What a f**king *********. I know this won't lead to anything because the guy seems to be made out of teflon when it comes to race issue, but the qb/americana comment is a disgrace. Listen I'm white and from Baltimore and a huge Raven fan. So I've follow the team as much as I posssibly can from a far, and let me tell you - Steve McNair is a class act, and represents everything that's good about sports. He is the definition of a leader - smart, humble, courageous, and tough. He makes everyone around him better. Great leaders don't just collect followers, they create other leaders. And that's what McNair has done with Baltimore this year. That locker room was a mess before this season and he's galvanized that entire team. Young guys are stepping up and assuming leadership roles. The entire team loves the guy and would run through walls for him. Not to mention all the charity work the guy does. Sorry I don't mean to make this a rant about the Ravens, but my point is McNair is everything you would want your son to grow up to be. And for dog to just dismiss the guy that way, to me is an outrage. He is a disgrace as a human being. He hides behind his cloak of naivete and sheltered innocence, what a crock of ****? You've admitted on numerous occasions you haven't listened to the show in years. Weird... jerome 12-12-2006, 03:56 PM Me thinks Mike0421 is Russ Salzberg or <enter your favorite fired WFAN employee>. priceyeah 12-12-2006, 04:01 PM If Dog says Americana is QBs doesn't McNair count in that too? When did he say America digs white QBs only? Oh Really 12-12-2006, 04:04 PM "theyre not americana like qb's" Did he really say this? yup What a f**king *********. He hides behind his cloak of naivete and sheltered innocence, what a crock of ****? i agree but you are dealing with dog a guy who is afraid of his own shadow and is as sheltered as they come.. hes an uppity snob who thinks if you got a summons for drinking at an early age youre a criminal.. were delaing iwth a guy who was never a regular blue collarp erson who had to go through bad times Oh Really 12-12-2006, 04:10 PM If Dog says Americana is QBs doesn't McNair count in that too? When did he say America digs white QBs only? he didnt say that,he just said when they talked about basketballs image problems and people ignore footballs he said its because the qb postion is americana which is bad enough but then just mentioned brady manning and palmer.. Mike0421 12-12-2006, 04:14 PM Me thinks Mike0421 is Russ Salzberg or <enter your favorite fired WFAN employee>. Oh god, Russ Salzberg. Now you've insulted me! That was the single worst talk show host in the history of the radio station. Seriously Jerome, for someone who bitches and moans so much about the lack of quality of Russo's broadcasting skills (and I agree with most of your observations) you sure do spend a lot of time evidently still listening to this anachronism of a radio show. There's many other and better ways to spend your time. Not on Mickey's Birthday 12-12-2006, 04:21 PM If Dog says Americana is QBs doesn't McNair count in that too? When did he say America digs white QBs only? I didn't actually hear him say it, but this is what fatfrancesa posted in the other thread on this subject: maddog said he mentioned the white quarterbacks bc he was "going through the standings" "Brady's in first place" "Manning's in first place" and "Palmer is in...ah second place" If he was just going through the standings why didn't he mention "McNair in first place" before skipping down to Palmer of the second place Bengals. Somebody please call him out on this, I'm trying to get through as we speak. jayjay 12-12-2006, 04:22 PM He is so out of touch with what is going on today........Yet again he says something stupid and it makes no sense at all....I'm white and i have been a fan of the NBA since i was little and still am....I go to atleast 2 or 3 games a season if i can and thats only because of the price of tickets plus parking and food and everything else.. 12-12-2006, 11:26 PM Mad Dog is so stupid. It is because the league stinks right now. No Michael Jordan, Magic, or Bird. No real great teams or rivalries like the Celtics/Lakers, or Knicks/Bulls. Has nothing to do with race. As if NFL players are not dressing the same way, or sometimes carrying guns, or walking around with an entourage. Bottom line, I'm not watching the NBA because I am a Knicks fan and they stink and I find the rest of the league not too compelling. If the Knicks were winning 50 games you can bet I'd be watching. Oh and since somebody mentioned it I will break topic for one second. Since Russo is such a wimp and claims that if you break the law in any aspect you are a bad buy does anyone think he is being hypocritical by promoting gambling, in Russo's world how is that good for the kids. I love how he said he watched most of the Houston game, why would anybody, because he had money on the game. The Poster 12-17-2006, 01:44 PM When will Chernoff take some heat for this? He hasn't taken Russo off the air for any of his racist comments. He hasn't reprimanded him at all. There needs to be some accountablity at the station for offensive remarks like this. I think we should file complaints against the FCC. I am tired of Russo's antics. archie 12-17-2006, 01:58 PM When will Chernoff take some heat for this?
