I heard Russert on with him this morning, promoting a new book, I think (?). Russert didn't miss a beat in transitioning from Imus to Gregory.
Interestingly, Gregory strongly defended Imus in the immediate aftermath of the controversy. The defense focused primarily on looking at the entire body of Imus' work as opposed to trying defend the actual Imus' comments. Gregory's actions showed him to be a person of strong character and convictions, standing by a friend even while condemming Imus' comments.
The same can't be said for Russert despite his frequent appearances on Imus and considering how much Imus promoted Russert's books and TV show. I had previously believed that Russert was one of the few "talking heads" with real integrity. I'm not so sure anymore.
BTW, who is the female co-hosting with Gregory? I thought I heard him introduce her as "Tracy Gold." Isn't that the former child actress from Growing Pains who had anorexia? WTF is that all about?
