SportsFan 12-18-2006, 10:30 AM Roberts is awful. He's arrogrant, immature, and talks WAY TOO much.
He said "blah blah blah" twice today. Couldn't agree more.
I'm switching to 1050.
Steve In Tampa 12-18-2006, 10:39 AM I think he's alright, he doesn't take nearly enough calls as Joe and that's a big negative. I still say Burkhardt would of been a better option alongside Benigno, but Joe should still have the show on his own.
I like Roberts' energy, it sure as hell beats the energy level of Richard Neer and Tony Paige, who put you to sleep. Roberts' energy is what's good, but his radio style isn't that good.

Enjoy Kellerman He's much more professional and would never talk too much
I'm glad you agree with yourself
dodgerdog 12-18-2006, 02:16 PM Evan is a little annoying but he has some good qualities. And he appeals to a vital demographic.
You see he drinks high test coffee, has a mortgage, and an ipod.

Good one. :-)
The Poster 12-19-2006, 07:07 PM I think Evan Roberts is ready for daytime. The man is simply entertaiing, informative, and hilarious. He is a breath of fresh air on the station. Besides, WFAN is due for a youth movement anyway. There is nothing wrong with new blood.

Unfortunately they paired Roberts with someone who is about 30 years older than him. They should have put Roberts and Carlin together. At least they're closer in age and they seemed to have a good rapport the few times I heard them interact on the air.
Vulnable 12-27-2006, 02:30 PM Listening to Roberts now for the first time during the daytime, he's a poor choice. He is not as intelligent about sports as he'd like to think ... and he just said that the Giants "gived up". What a poor choice the FAN made, and I have a feeling this pairing will wear on Joe B. real quick.
jerome 12-27-2006, 03:02 PM i dont mind his delivery and he has definitely made me listen. i dont see much depth as he talks sports at a very high level. whether or not he is the answer is debatable but he definitely improves the 10-1 show.

So I take it that Evan is working with Joe?
How do they work together? How do they interact? Is there potential there or do they step on each other's toes?
I take it that Evan is a young guy, while Joe is older. This could be a bad thing, but Joe might be able to bring him along and use some of his memories to add some spice to their dialogue.
Just curious, as I cannot listen from work.

I think it's pretty much a push for Evan to work the 10-1 spot and let Benigno's contract run out until they bring in either a Kevin Burkhardt or Sweeney Murti. That's pretty much you can hear the underlinings from Russo when he mentions the two together.
jerome 12-27-2006, 04:10 PM yeah lunchbox, i havent really heard enough to give you a solid opinion. however, i do think working with an older guy with a bit more history is a good thing.
lets see.
A Couple Quickies 12-27-2006, 05:22 PM Joe can definately benefit from a partner, and they will probably only improve, but after listening today, this will be a brutal pairing. I dont' know why they are forcing this.
Francesa's Lunchbox 12-27-2006, 05:39 PM Maybe for the reasons I suggested.
If I were in charge, I'd probably do the same. At first, I'd probably let the kid start at night, just to see how he handles things on his own, during a less demanding time. I would also want to see how he interacts with other hosts.
I'd like to fit him in with other personalities and Joe would be pretty interesting.
For example, there was a time when the Tony bruno show aired here in Miami. I loved the show; I thought the older guy-younger guy thing worked. Tony Bruno had a sports show that was co hosted by Andrew Sciciliano, a young, intelligent, witty, cynical kid. It worked well. They played off of each other well, and the chemistry was pretty good. Now I know that Joe isn't that type, BUT, I'm wondering if Evan can't play off of Joe's cursed fan bit.
I'd give it some time and see where it goes. What I would try to avoid, however, is stuffing the kid in Joe's 10-1 slot while relegating Benigno to "The Dungeon" that is the Overnight, unless that is what Joe wants. I think it could be bad for morale.
How Do You Pronounce This 12-27-2006, 05:58 PM They sounded like dopes Jessica vs Carrie ..Who the hell cares who they drool over?
Bob Heussler Fan Club 12-27-2006, 07:42 PM The station needs to do something to infuse new blood into it. Joe Bada Bing is entertaining but he does where you out with his Jets schtick, plus Ihate Ira and Val who call alllllllllll the time.
I like Evan Roberts, but I worry about this team up with Joe B. Obviously, Joe is best on his own. If you had to team him with somebody, I honestly think Steve Somers is the best match only because they'll back off and give each other space for their personality.
So far, the Joe and Evan show sounds like the Evan Roberts Sports Show with Joe B. I don't know if he's nervous or what, but Evan is running his mouth off like crazy. Relax guy. We know you're the new station hotshot. Just let Joe do his thing.
Lawnmower 12-27-2006, 10:28 PM Jessica Simpson vs. Carrie Underwood? That's the kind of guy talk that I hate. I hope these guys keep it to a minimum.
Do you think Dog has any idea who Jessica and Carrie are? He's still into the '80's teen movies icons like Demi Moore and Molly Ringwald.
I'd like to see M&MD bring in Evan for a segment sometime soon and welcome him to the new time slot. It'd be great if they have Joe in also and watch Mike intimidate him like he already does.
Little Birdie 12-28-2006, 09:48 AM correct me if i'm wrong, but is Evan another Met/Jet fan ?? if so,is it so damn hard to find a Giant/Yankee fan to be a host. at least with Sid you had a Giants fan to balance Joe's Jet lunacy.

Wasn't Tony Bruno Golic's co-host on ESPN before he teamed up with Greenberg on Mike & Mike?
How Do You Pronounce This 12-29-2006, 02:43 PM Does anyone else have the problem of saying you were banned on some topics but being allowed to post in others?

Haven't experienced that problem. I have only posted in I think two diff't topics today though.
Icelanders 12-30-2006, 12:16 AM Yes'm. You are correct sir. By the way, i HATE Greenberg, he is too smarmy.
Agreed I hate Greenberg as well he just comes of as a sleaze and a phony. His fake self-deprecation is just annoying.
I do like Golic though and think he has alot of potential.
