You ever picked up the fan.

I travel a lot an I have picked up the station as far away as the Cleveland and DC areas.

Great topic. I picked it up when I was on business in Norfolk VA this past January. It was my first time back to the East Coast in over a year, and I wanted to hear if WFAN would be talking about any other sport besides baseball that night Steve Somers was on. I hung with about 5 minutes of baseball discussion, and turned the station off. The clarity was excellent but I was traveling inland, and it was beginning to fade when I turned the station to another dial (because baseball was being discussed, not because of clarity fading).

Furthest I ever heard the FAN was in Oxford Mississippi while @ School. I was able to pick it up for about 10 min in only one spot on campus. Should of seen the shock on my face when I heard Steve doing his opening.

I used to work in the DC area and I used to listen to the Fan on the drive home. It would fade in and out until it got dark and then it was clear. I could not stand the DC Sportstalk station. Kornheiser was ok though.

it used to come in pretty good when I was in college in Baltimore. I first heard Benigno when I was up at 4 am writing a paper.

Someone brought up this topic on the old board. I once heard someone call during the overnight from Florida.

I don't exactly remember where in Florida, but the caller claimed he could actually catch the show at night. I am able to get 1010 WINS and WCBS
myself, usually around 12am. No such luck with WFAN , however, but I might have more luck with a more powerful radio, as opposed to the Sony CD type I have on my table.

I drove to New Orleans once from New York. Could not believe it? The station would not die. Got to Tennesse, still going, finally died around Mississippi. Funny stuff.

I always was able to pick it up at night when I lived in the Raleigh, N.C. area for a few years during the 1990s.

The farthest away I ever picked it up during the daytime was on the Outer Banks in North Carolina. If you look at a map, there's nothing but water between NYC and the Outer Banks, so I guess the signal travels pretty well.

I received the Fan at night in the Muskoka region of Ontario, which is almost 2 hours north of Toronto. I put it on when going back to our cottage after going out for dinner, and it was clear. When I was a kid, I remember my parents listening to NY Am stations at night.

I heard it loud and clear one night from Milwaukee. The bad news was that Somers was on.

I visit Stuart, Florida, every so often, to visit family. To give you an idea, I think it's one or two towns south of Port St. Lucie, where the Mets play spring training. On a good night, with the right conditions, I can get part of the overnight show. It drifts a bit, sometimes badly, but I listen anyway.

I get it up on Cape Cod 75% of the time, and that is a 5 hour drive from Astoria...

I've never even tried down here (Naples, FL) but maybe I'll try just to see from time to time.

Your best shot is at night. I lived down here (DC) a year before getting the DirecTV scenario, and on nights I didn't go to a sports bar to watch the games, I'd often sit out on my balcony with a drink, a cigar and a portable radio and listen to Mets games.

I drove up to Hartford last June on business, but lost the signal once I got past New Haven on the Merritt. In fairness, it was a cloudy day. Could have affected the signal strength.

Yeah, weather can mess with it, I can put it on when I leave the Cape and listen all the way to NY on I-95...And when I first moved up here before I got the tv/DSL in, I would pick up Mets games as long as I had the radio outside..

That is interesting because I get FAN here all day and night.I dont think I have been in a part of CT where I dont get FAN. Your signal must have really been interfered with by something.

if you look at this coverage map for FAN you'll see the signal is strongest along the coast of CT, not so much inland.

Yeah, I think there was a storm somewhere nearby that was overpowering the signal. I was actually starting to pick up ESPN radio in Boston and I remember listening to them talking about Celtics/Lakers, as well as the end of a Red Sox game on another station. I was up there during the Finals last year.

I went to school in Atlanta

As long as it was nice out, I used to get it at night.

About 15 years ago Brent Musburger was on the show and he told them when in Cuba there were kids coming up and saying they had heard him on Mike and the Mad Dog.

I picked up the station when I was in Myrtle Beach, SC in 2006.
