Lawnmower 12-27-2006, 10:43 PM Dog loves schedules and I think he will kill NBC's selection of the Green Bay-Chicago game because:
A) Chicago has nothing to play for
B) There is a good chance Green Bay will have nothing to play for if the Giants win
I think it's a good choice because the Giants are far from a lock and you can't pass up the opportunity to see Favre against Chicago gunning for a playoff spot.
The only other choices (Oak/Jets, Atl/Philly) are not sexy enough and I can't blame NBC.
Besides it's New Year's Eve so the Chicago atmosphere would be great. Not that it matters to Dog because he'll be in his pajamas at 10pm while his wife will be upstairs wearing out the battery.
Oh Really 12-27-2006, 11:10 PM dog might mention it for the 5 minutes hes not talking movies..
A Couple Quickies 12-28-2006, 12:30 AM The Jets were the clear choice, bad job by NBC. You get:
NY market
Oakland market and fanbase(diminished, but some diehards)
Cincy(shoudl they win)
But I guess its worth the gamble to have Farve playing a Play-In game the Giants lose.

No one on planet earth should be subjected to watching the Raiders again this season.
Their season has been a disaster, but their effort in Nationally televised games has been worse:
27-0 loss at home to S.D.
13-3 loss at Denver
16-0 loss at Seattle
20-9 loss at home to K.C.
In four Nat. televised games, the Raiders have been outscored 76-12 and have yet to register a touchdown.
Sorry but based on this, I'll pass on the Raiders/Jets

I say good job by NBC!!! I'm going to the game and I want to have time to go home, re-energize, then go out for New Years! Woohoo!!
To be honest, no one's watching NFL Football on New Year's Eve night. Say what you will, we're all big sports fans here, but no one is watching football on the biggest party night of the year.....unless it's background noise for a house party or a bar.
jerome 12-28-2006, 06:56 AM as if america needed just ONE MORE Brett Farve blowjob fest. ugh
im going to the jet game too, good thing they didnt move the time. i wouldve been pissed.
dodgerdog 12-28-2006, 08:42 AM jets fans with new years eve plans aside, this is one of the top two games this week. does anyone know if nbc has first pick. i thought cbs and fox can protect one game each and then nbc gets to pick from the rest - but i heard this on mike & mike so you never know.
unobjectively, I would rank the games as:
1.) Denver vs. SF (Denver must win, SF will play hard, and Frank Gore showcased)
2.) Philly vs. Atlanta (essentially a must win for both - though the Giants win or loss could decrease the importance, Philly still needs to win to get a playoff home game)
3.) NY Jets vs. Oakland (Jets must win, Oakland will probably mail it in as Mike has been saying for a month)
4.) Cincy vs. Pitt (Great rivalry game between two great AFC teams even if both are out of the playoffs)

The worst part is Favre WILL be back next year. So all of the slobbering & asskissing will be a charade, because next year they will have to do the same thing all over again.
jerome 12-28-2006, 01:02 PM exactly, that was part of my point. this Favre asslicking has gone on for the past 3 years now and the sad part is that he and that team has sucked the entire time.

Just wait until next season, when The Favre Farewell Tour gets picked up for Season Four.
I guarantee the Packers get at least one Monday Night game(Chicago), a Sunday Night game, and a Thursday as well. I would go so far as to say the Packers might even get a Thanksgiving day game.

Dead on imitation (at least as good as an imitation can get on an internet message board).
And I agree Scarlet Knights. I love it when Dog starts ripping some TV network a new one for whatever the reason.
dodgerdog 12-29-2006, 02:55 PM And AWAY WE GO!
Chris wanted Denver v. SF for Sunday night.
Though Mike, ever the TV whiz, was quick to point out that Denver and Dallas had maxed out their in-season prime time appearances. Hilarious, love it when he brings up these little known rules.
