Of course we all wish him and family good health etc. but let's not overlook the fact that he is an unconscionably bad broadcaster. As this is a site which is built to criticize broadcasters, it needs to be pointed out.

First off, Best wishes to Bobby.

I think I am in the minority that actually did not mind Murcer. He never came off as arrogant or pretentious. Admittedly he was never a big provider of meaningful insight, but for a baseball commentator he was not that bad. He never Tim McCarvered the game and over anaylized. And I am the type of guy that on a baseball TV Broadcast doesn't mind hearing some good stories of the olden days of the Yanks.

I remember reading in either Mushnik or Raissman that after YES took away almost all of his games he sorta of became disenfranchised and was not doing his baseball homework like he should have been, which led to a decline his commentary. Don't know if that was true or not but it does seem to make sense.

I've never heard an announcer improve so much in my life as Murcer has. When it used to be Scooter, Seaver and him, it was cringe worthy, but he worked his *** to get to the point of being average, and now, I think he's legitmately the best listen in the Yankee booth(with Kaat exiting). He was criminally underused, but he kind of had this nouveax southern Scooter thing going, but I really enjoyed him because I knew he'd be occassionally funny and generally always have some good insight baseball wise.

That they made him the caddy to that old queen Kay is a joke, Bobby got the out of town gigs no one else wanted to work, like Seattle. Respect Bobby, he's a legend.

As for this health crisis, a sincere godspeed and get well soon, I hope on a personal level first and foremost he's ok, and I hope he's well enough to return to the booth AND the Outfield on old-timers day, he made it worth watching!
