Jim Clark of Team Lotus 01-02-2007, 08:36 PM I think so. But one of my friends met Sugar Ray Martell a few years ago at an Islanders playoff game (Mike was in the press box.."as big as a house"). He asked Sugar Ray if there was a special number for everyday callers like Short Al, Doris from Rego Park, etc. Sugar Ray said no, they have speed dialers, etc. Make of that what you will..I think a few guys are friends and get a private number. Ricflair 01-03-2007, 07:38 AM There has to be a special number. There's no way the same callers would get through all the time. And it's more than 2 or 3 guys that call a lot so it's not as if 2 guys speed dial. "Sugar Ray"Martel isn't going to admit it. He probably thinks everyone is too stupid to figure that out. Vulnable 01-03-2007, 09:00 AM If there is a special number, and they are giving it to Ira from Staten Island, then they are more retarded than I could have ever imagined. That's Right Dawg 01-03-2007, 09:08 AM I heard Chaz Palminteri has his own line that lights up red like the Bat Phone whenever he calls to make a salient point about the Yankees. That's because Chaz is special. Sid's Manager 01-03-2007, 09:10 AM I've heard that the producers call certain callers to get them on the air. That's Right Dawg 01-03-2007, 09:13 AM On a more serious note, the frequent (and always timely) callers must be calling in through the office lines. I seem to remember a NYT profile on the real Jerome mentioning how, while banned from on-air calls because of a particularly outrageous rant, he'd call the office employees to yell about the Yankees. So it seems reasonable to assume these long-time, well-known callers have the office lines and get patched through. Back After This 01-03-2007, 09:40 AM No way Doris from Rego park had speed dial. (cough) I think (cough) you missed a few coughs (cough) r.i.p. Doris True Story? 01-03-2007, 10:11 AM Did you see Steve Somers Wikipedia entry? The section on Doris doesn't exactly paint this wonderful picture of her. const 01-03-2007, 10:15 AM And who really cares what this guy has to say about anything boston related! I'd rather listen to Dennis Leary's insights on Boston sports. All things being equal, I'd rather not listen to anything boston sports related. Mike0421 01-03-2007, 12:08 PM The way I hear it is done is that callers, knowing there is a 7 second delay built in, have the WFAN number dialed into their phone, and time hitting "SEND" a few seconds prior to knowing the previous phone conversation with a caller is about to end. The switchboard immediately frees up the line, and the next caller times it precisely for that second. True Story? 01-03-2007, 04:21 PM WFAN's telephone number is 718-706-7690. I have no idea if you can get through to the hosts via this number. Nope. I won a contest, (Devils-Penguins Tix last year...YUCK). Its a damn message menu that takes an hour to figure out. I spoke to somebody named Troy. He said that the phones can be sent anywhere, but on air. So it can go to Malusis/Martel/Licata just not on the air. I imagine that there is a special guest number, cause when they have a Jim nantz on or another guest the phone lines (On chris's side) are all blinking except one of the ones below the top 4. The top 4 blink all the time, and they always seem to take them from there. anyone notice this? (or am I that much of a geek?) jerome 01-03-2007, 04:28 PM Nope.
