Mike & the Mad Dog tree

I remember way, way back when Ian Eagle started out as a stringer for WFAN and did his first live remote from a Nets game. Dog critiqued it on the air and said Ian "didn't set the scene properly."

Ian has now evolved into a big time network broadcaster. Deep down, Dog is jealous because he knows his voice/laziness would always keep him where he is. Not that he would want to move. The guy stepped in **** and has one of the premeir jobs in broadcasting.

What other WFAN alumni have moved up the ranks and can be considered part of the M&MD (like the Parcells/Belichick) tree?

Wischusen
Carlin
Malusis
Eddie C.
Steve Levy

Also, remember about 10 years ago there was an Asian update guy. Dog loved the guy from Sportschannel and brought him in to do updates. Dog thought he was hysterical but he didn't last long. Can't remember his name.

I think Dog brought in Burkhardt too but that's because he wants to be Jake Gyllenhall to his Heath Ledger.

Actually M&MD love Ian Eagle. Remember the whole blow up over Marv Albert and the Nets was mainly because Marv pushed Eagle out the door,

A bad job on my part

Darn I thought this was a thread on what to put under Mike & Dog's Christmas tree this year.
I was going to say a couple tickets to a hockey game just to remind them what a great sport is in person. I think they mighta forgot.
Plus it would get Chris away from all those kids he keeps complaining about...

What about Steve Cohen? Didn't he get his start with Mike and the Mad Dog?

I didn't mean to imply they had any negative feelings towards the Bird. They love him. I just think Dog is jealous because he could never do what Ian does. That's the root of his criticisms towards play by play broadcasters.

Dog has a handicap with his voice. If you listened to him do play by play of that Mets game, it was pretty evident. He must have some sort of dyslexia because he can obviously see in his mind the words he wants to say. He just can't pronounce them. That may not be the definition of dyslexia so it's probably another kind of ailment specific only to Dog.

I don't think it's a "specific ailment", I just think that he's a friggin' imbecile.

What about Steve Cohen? Didn't he get his start with Mike and the Mad Dog?

I remember several years ago Mike joking about Steve Cohen, claiming he is a"football insider" and he huddles with other "insiders" at the football off season meeting, etc.

I don't know where he got his start. he very well may have been an M&MD producer at some point. I do know he married Eileen Marquezie (I know I spelled that wrong), the traffic girl who used to be on Imus.

Anyway, do you notice the way Mike talks to Steve Cohen on his Sunday morning NFL show with the injury updates. Mike treats him with barely disguised contempt IMO. He sounds like he could care less what Cohen has to say. It really annoys me, considering Cohen probably knows more about the NFL than Mike does..

Too bad so much talent decided to leaf the FAN and branch out. I'm not going out on a limb by saying that rooting for this to grow back is unlikely with so many cracks. All that's left is a BIG stump.

Mostly remember Levy with Neer on Saturday mornings. A couple of years ago Steve Levy came on to talk to Sommers. It was good to hear them catch up. Won't happen anymore thanks to the ESPN suits.

Coleman and Bullet Bob do not belong on the list, both had established careers in the biz before WFAN came calling.

Laughs Levy was on with Mike and Chris?

There was an African American update guy that Dog loved: Howard Something or other?

Steve Cohen and Bob Gelb were the producers of the Pete Franklin show (remember he'd say his show was a "BS" production?), and they stayed with the time slot when M&MD took over.

One went into sales, one went into football reporting.
