Obama vs ?? in 2012mohawk mike 11-02-2008, 05:58 PM Who will The GOP put up in 2012 ??? Zepman2393 11-02-2008, 07:17 PM Who will The GOP put up in 2012 ??? well i doubt it will be obama running again, because he will be a failure if he wins.. but in 2012, lets just put it this way: NO sarah. The media and america have painted her as a dumbas-s. She has no chance of accpetance or sucess on the wide scale in this country because of how profound things like media are. It seems people hate her guts almost as badly as they hate bush, and she hasnt even been on the scene for a years time! No, my dream for 2012 is my boy Bobby Jindal. Hes the one for this country. Hes the republican that will lead this country. I know it. He spent the entire first term guaranteeing Clinton would not be the Dem nominee in 1996. Zepman2393 11-02-2008, 07:23 PM I remember Rush Limbaugh taking this approach with Clinton. I just feel increasing taxes on anyone in an economic crisis (not recesseion yet) is a ridiculous thing to do, and it is destined to fail. Anyone renember what happened when hoover did this? Hes the republican that will lead this country. I know it. You sound like an Obama guy in 2004 after his convention speech? Stranger things have happened. What the GOP needs to do is this (assuming McCain does not win) 1. Admit that George Bush drove the country to elect a African American Democrat from Chicago with a muslium name. 2. To a degree play copy cat, you need to go after a canidate who will run against Obama again so this person should be around Obama's age. 3. Find a person who will flex on the social issues, a "Real Maverick" who will tell the base to get over it people have abortions and people are gay let them do what they do. Now 1/3 of all blue states have your attention. 4. Now after you have attention of blue states take the game there, The bible belt will always be Red, California, New York, and New Jersey have a ton of electoral votes, talk to these people tell the Republican base they killed the country and had a major part in electing Obama. 5. Tie Rush, Hannity, and any other media members you want to a cinderblock and throw it in the ocean. Billo the clown as well. 6. Admit that the war in Iraq was an utter disgrace regardless of outcome. Now after all that both canidates share their ideas. Unless Obama has Clinton like results over the next four years I would bet Republicans win big and I might even vote for them. And I almost forgot No Jeb Bush. Take the fight back to the Democrats just like Obama did to them. And I almost forgot No Jeb Bush. Take the fight back to the Democrats just like Obama did to them. The problem with that strategy is that the base controls the primary system in both parties. That's why McCain had to flip flop on immigration reform and Bush's tax cuts, and tie himself to the Iraq war. It's also why he had to choose Palin. He wanted to pick Lieberman, but the base would have gone nuts, because Lieberman is pro-choice. Attempting to win a GOP presidential primary as a pro-choice, pro-gay marriage candidate would be as successful as when Joe Lieberman tried to run in the Dem presidential primary as a pro-war candidate in 2004. What your proposing is for us to find a young democrat politician, then label him a republican. Allowing abortion, gay marriage is exactly what the gop doesnt stand for. The war in iraq has led to freedom of iraq and the downfall of their evil leader. But you are right on the young guy scenario. And as I have said before, Bobby Jindal. Pitch and Catch 11-02-2008, 09:12 PM IF McCain loses, the Republicans are going to nominate someone who they believe is a true blue conservative. They never loved McCain, they will make a base pick next time. I hope you're right. "Trey" 11-03-2008, 04:54 PM with all due repect this is absolute ludicrous. What I am saying is take the fight to the Dems turf. The Northeast and California. Put them on Defence, because if Obama is able to get growth of the DOW,increase the GDP, No terrorist attacks, and can keep things quite in Iraq and Iran he will say "Are you better off then you were four years ago" and end up winning South Carolina and Georgia. What is the big deal on the social issues? The base will still vote for the canidate, notice I said nothing about guns, The GOP needs to take the fight to the Dems turf especially if Obama wins as many of these swing states as some polls show. An Obama blowout means the GOP needs a major facelift. devils950003 11-03-2008, 05:00 PM If the GOP loses tomorrow, I liken them to a sports team that has had a long run of success but now needs to rebuild. The Republicans have had a great run since Reagan. They've been in the White House for 20 of the past 28 years and had a majority in the House and Senate for long stretches in that time as well. If I were them, I'd go away from banging the drum on social issues (gay marriage, abortion, etc.) and get back to being old-fashioned fiscal conservatives because I think that message will resonate with more people. There's nothing that the average person hates more than knowing that so many of their tax dollars are wasted by inept politicians in Washington. mohawk mike 11-03-2008, 07:12 PM What scares me is that the Republican Party is now becoming an endangered specie in many parts of the country. It was a national party, but now it will be reduced to being a regional one in many respects. Also very distressing (at least to Republican's) is the growing influence of Hispanic voters who are apt to vote for Democrats, (especially when Obama and a Democrat Congress grants amnesty to illegals now residing in the United States). The Democrats will own this growing and important voting bloc for years to come. Who will replace those such as Pat Buchanan, Art Laffer, Newt, Jack Kemp, Larry Kudlow, and others who have spent their lives promoting conservative ideas ?? These guys are in their 60's with no one, who can convincingly articulate the conservative message, about to replace them. Who will drive the discussion and champion the cause ???? I would like to be proven wrong, but the conservative philosophy will be wandering in the wilderness for years to come. Zepman2393 11-03-2008, 09:43 PM Bush 41 and Clinton signed tax increases during a recession and the economy boomed in the 90's. We are not in an actual recession right now. Remember a recesession is two consectuive quarters of negative economy growth. But the big problems we have right now are jobs lost and the high unemployment rates. Which is an issue McCain wants to deal with, and understands. You don't increase taxes on buisnesses that CREATE jobs in a situation like this. Its just idiocy. "Trey" 11-04-2008, 03:54 PM 2nd. guessing the GOP Primaries If it could be done differently, who would of been a better choice; Huckabee, Romney or Guiliani? And who would of been a better Vice-Presidential choice? | |
