I know this isnt the best forum for this, but i wanted to get others perspective on this rediculous situation with Glavine. As an avid Mets fan, i really do not want this f'en bumb Glavine back.....he is obviously pulling the same back room b/s he pulled 4yrs ago on the eve of his Mets signing and is leveraging Jeff Coupons unnatural love for him to get Atlanta to make him an offer. God forbid he does end up back in Shea, i promise i will not attend one game (and i went to approx 20 games this yr)

I semi agree with you.

I'm so sick of Glavine's act already. Make up your mind, you want to stay then sign a deal with us and stay, you want to go back to Atlanta then go. Just make a f'n decision already.

I was reading before that the Mets plan on making a sal arbitration offer to him meaning if he signs with ATL we get 2 draft picks.

We will be fine as long as we sign Zito I believe.

I agree with both of you, I am a little tired of Glavine's love affair with the Braves. Show some loyalty to the Mets. I mean the Mets went out and gave this guy the years and the money that the Braves pretty much said he was not worth 4 years ago. The Braves basically said yeah Tom you are not worth our money and in a few years you are going to be done, but somehow Glavine doesn't get that the Braves gave up on him, and that he needs to move on. Even now I read in the Newsday yesterday, that the Braves haven't even made an offer to Glavine, but Glavine is keeping the Mets on hold waiting and hoping that the Braves will make him an offer!!

This is not one of those deals where he was traded this year at the deadline and now wants to go back to his old a team, I mean you have been here for 4 years now, you should have by now developed some attachment to this team.

That being said I like Glavine alot and want to see him in a Mets uniform next year.

I wasn't too thrilled with the signing back in 03, but after his performance this season, especially against LA and game 1 of the NLCS, I really had a new view of him and wouldn't mind him back.

But this waiting game stuff is unnecessary. And ATL won't give a no-trade...wish he'd make up his mind soon.

After The Braves Gm embarrassed him, why would he go back. Show some guts. Braves are a sinking ship. No money, fans are lame and you have to play in Trailer Park. Next yr Jones will be a goner, they're trying to unload Hudson cause of $, they're stuck with Hampton..COME BACK TO BIG SHEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Round 1 NLCS Zito, Glavine, Pedro....

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said. I won't be devastated whether he stays or goes. But this Hamlet act has got to stop. Glavine knew going into the season that he might have to make this decision. This whole "gotta talk to the family" stuff is a bunch of nonsense. But its as much Mets management fault. Omar, Fred, Jeff, stand up tell G that yoiu want a decision by a certain time or else he can take a hike.

Looks like Namedropper will not be attending any Mets games next year.

Glavine 1 year 10.5 mil option on a second year.

Glavine was just trying to see how much he could bank off his post season performance......Nice to see the Mets did get him back because he will be important with all those young pitchers around...

I really don't see what the big deal was about Glavine waiting it out to see if Atlanta wanted him to return. He's certainly not the first guy to hold out for more money. He's never been a bad guy or malcontent and while his performance (this year aside) has been inconsistent, he has had to play for Art Howe for two years, had some injury scares and been given mediocre run support.

He's as good a guy as there is in baseball. I'm glad he's back. He had a good year and was great in the playoffs.
