Opie and Anthony suspended 30 days
What a crock of ****. The incident was aired on XM, not broadcast radio. It's like a rated R movie compared to regular TV. There's different rules. If you don't like it then don't put it on. How come its OK for movies (The Hills Have Eyes) to have a rape scene and HBO (The Sopranos) to have a rape scene but then Opie and Anthony get suspended for this?!?!?! F*** XM and F*** Bill O'Reilly and everyone else.

You're absolutely right. The double standards in this country are disgusting. Look at all the crime shows that are on during primetime that show people who have been killed, maimed, tortured, etc. And I guess it's OK for Carrie Underwood to make a song about destroying her ex-boyfriend's car for cheating on her. By these standards, isn't she advocating vandalism if someone does you wrong? It's such a joke.

You just get so sick of it. If you don't like what's being said, turn the damn thing off. No one's forcing you to listen but I don't think anyone has a right to dictate what people can and can't watch, read or listen to.

I guess that it isn't where you said it (satellite, terrestrial, whatever) - it is just a matter that you said it at all that is the offense. If Imus had said the "nappy headed ho's" thing at home it would have been equally offensive. I wonder how soon it will be before just thinking those thoughts will get you into hot water. Sad but true ...

As a Stern fan, I could care less about O&A, but I will say that this is total BS. They should have the right to say whatever the F they want to say, especially if it was on the XM side. CBS is such a bunch of scared F's, they will fire and suspend anyone for anything.
As with Imus, these two were hired to "get ratings", be controversial, and get "attention". They do their job, they have their audience, they deliver the goods (at least on their own scale), yet for them to be "suspended" by CBS for something someone else said while they were not on CBS airwaves is a JOKE. Why don't they just loop some '50s music on the CBS stations and leave the rest of the "real" programming to XM and SIRIUS.

I truly want to cancel my XM subscription now.
If Opie and Anthony truly were "deplorable" as XM would have stated, then the marketplace would take hold and the ratings of the O&A show would plummet. There was no sign that was happening. And the fact that XM is a pay service that is not regulated by the FCC, there should be a freedom to not worry about caving into pressure to say anything you want. If the public was truly outraged, then they'd be able to cancel their subscriptions if they were kept on. That did not happen. Now XM will have to suffer consequences by the people who bought subscriptions just to listen to O&A, if in fact they were actually fired.
