April 6, 2009 -- Tankus Maximus delivers the following Papal Bull --

He spends the last half of Mike'd Up telling the listeners that the Michigan State Spartans are a team of DESTINY -- and will lift up downtrodden Detroit just like the 68 Tigers (even though the spartans play 100 miles from Detroit, so it's like saying the Giants will uplift Rochester with a superbowl win) -- and be too much for the Tar Heels to handle.

Result? Within 10 mintutes, North Carolina jumps out to a 20 point lead en route to both the most first-half points in NCAA title game history, and largest halftime lead in NCAA title game history. Tank's spartans manage one lead -- at 3-2. Carolina never leads by less than 13 en route to securing the title in dominating fashion.

As a Tar Heel fan, I have to say -- thank you for the mush, Tank -- I never really bought into the "Spartans will save Detroit" storyline, though I thought it was a clever way to get people interested in a game CBS had every right to fear would be a blowout, but I knew enough to double all my bets when Tank went into full Mickey Mantley stars-in-his-eyes/Bernie Williams music playing mode.

Mike said the Charlotte Bobcats would get into the 2009 NBA Playoffs because of Larry Brown.

The Bobcats finished #10 in the East and missed the playoffs.

Around 5:10 on Friday 4/19/09, Mikey says that you don't expect Wang to have another 8 run inning. That would be very rare.

Good job Mikey!

Mike also predicted an impending disaster for Pavano - so much so that Cleveland should consider skipping his Sunday start.

Based on how this series has gone so far, Pavano will probably throw a 7 inning, 2 hit, 9 K gem...

"The Indians are pitching Pavano Sunday at the stadium? They can't do that, the Yankees will kill him". Sayeth The Pope in mid week.

Alyssa Milano's ex boyfriend ("He is small. His hands, I mean") pitched 6 innings giving up 1 run, 4 hits, 1 walk and struck out 4.

Mikey on numerous occasions a few weeks ago saying that it's hard to imagine anyone not liking both ballparks. After today's rant, I guess Mike doesn't even like the new Palace.

Tank on Monday after the Sox sweep the Yanks: Matsui is swinging the bat well, watch him hit a homer tonight(against Detroit). Matsui is finally seeing the ball well, he'll have a big night tonight.

Matsui goes 1 for 4 with a single and 2 strikeouts. And the Yanks lose to Detroit. Not sure why he was so high on Matsui all of a sudden.

Maybe because he was 10-23 going into last night's game??

Tank with Pierre McGuire 4/28 "I don't bet against Lou Lamariello". Pierre was more pro-Devil and also said first goal in Ranger vs Cap game wins.

While I admit that I haven't watched every minute of every MF show leading up to this weekend, I think that we have a habit of tweaking what he says a bit. I do recall hearing him say that they needed the Santana game because winning the series against the Red Sox was a tall order. I don't recall him ever saying that they wouldn't take a game, though.

I believe he said that the Mets should be happy taking 1 of 3 and then get home for the soft underbelly of their schedule. He said the Santana game was the key because if they didn't win that, they'd probably get swept.

Mike has too much love for the Bosox. They're good but he give them too much respect.
