Default Raissman stirs the pot

From today's article.

RUSSO'S RANTS

Very, very interesting Tuesday conversation between WFAN's Chris (Mad Dog) Russo/Mike (Sports Pope) Francesa and Chris Carlin/Kimberly Jones, who up until last week teamed to host the station's "Yawn Patrol" show.

With the team splitting, Doggie who along with Francesa, basically runs WFAN, wanted to know what it would take for Jones (YES' Yankees reporter) to do a full-time radio gig.

"If they offered you 6-10 (a.m.) and they fired Boomer (Esiason) and (Craig) Carton, which is possible, would you give up YES to do the show?" Russo asked. Is Russo suggesting Esiason/Carton are on thin ice? Or is he simply using the morning men as his personal fire hydrant?

Wouldn't be the first time.

There's a storm brewing methinks. Although to be fair, this was just Dog trying to be "funny" in his usual awkward manner, but I hope Boomer and Carton show some guts and respond with something.

no contest.

in re: to doggie. he just inserted his foot in his mouth. he'll do his usual, boomer - you know i love you. (laugh)

Below is another gem from Raissman's column today. Is he kidding us with this observation? Hey Phil & Bob, your competition at Newsday is re-inventing the role of a media columnist. If below is the best you can churn out, then call it a career. BTW, where's the Lisa Olsen column or did the Little General threaten your livelihood if you broach it?

"The verbal stylings of ESPN-1050's Stephen A. Smith always include plenty of spice. The man likes underlining his points either by turning up the volume or using an ear-catching word.

Mr. Smith may want to take an extra split-second to edit himself.

Last week, Tuesday to be exact, while describing Danny Ainge's first five years running the Celtics' front office, Smith said: "Danny Ainge was in a coma." Not cool. Especially to anyone actually experiencing this particular medical misfortune."

This comes as no surprise. As I have stated before in a previous thread, M&MD knows the deal with Boomer and Carton. They know B&C, especially C have been bashing them any chance he gets. All this is is retaliation. This war has been going on for some time now.

You guys are nuts if you don't think Kim would take the WFAN morning slot. First off, YES is national on satalite TV, but its not exactly working at ESPN. If she had an analyst, play by play or studio chair on YES, I could see her there, but WFAN mornings, thats a pretty enormous gig, not to mention a lucrative one. She could really spin into more things out of that. Kim's pretty hot, there's no reason she couldn't be a NFL sideline reporter on a network. Full time FAN mornings would be a much bigger platform to jump into something like that.

KB's future is in TV not radio. In some ways he may be a Mike Breen in training.

I remeber when he forst did updates for The Fan. Francesa was very impressed. KB left shortly thereafter but rejoined The FAN in short order (I think because Francesa made a push to get him back to the Fan cave).

According to some of the papers KB has sparked some interest from ESPN.

I think KB is going to be a star within the next 5 yrs. Either in NY or elsewhere.

You are right on, I'm still trying to figure out how working as a correspondent for YES constitutes a national TV job. The morning slot at FAN is huge, anyone would take that in a heartbeat.

I agree, but it's kind of a cold war right now I think. It needs to be ignited. One of these days it could all blow up, probably not from this of course, but it is just more tinder being thrown in. Like when Carton says he is the host with the best record picking NFL games at the station, Mike with his obvious aversion to saying 'Boomer and Carton' and referring to them as some generic 'morning show' etc.

I am patiently waiting for the spark.

Craig Carton and Boomer put together a good radio show. The boys are angry that Norman and Craig are puling in higher ratings than that bore over on WABC Don Imus ever did at WFAN.

Craig is simply telling it like it is. Tank can't get past management firing than old fool Imus.

When Imus was on WFAN, my dial never was tuned into 660. Since Norman and Carton took over the morning shift the dial is already tuned into 660 when I get off the train. So Tank and Dog have at least one pair of ears tuned into their show for 20 minutes.

Indeed. Sam Ryan used to do the 20/20s during overnights on Benigno's show several years ago.
